HALE ACCEPTS 2007 GROWTH SMART AWARD FOR LINEN DISTRICT

On November 15, 2007, David Hale received the 2007 Grow Smart Award for commercial development of the

Linen District.  "I'm very proud to have been given this award." said David Hale, who adds that it has been a team

effort involving existing and new business, city and state agencies, subcontractors and property owners.  "It feels

good to be recognized for all the hard work that's gone into seeing the Linen District through its first phase."

Hale's vision for the area is to create an urban workplace and lifestyle that blends existing historical buildings into a

culturally vibrant neighbor akin to Boise's North End and Hyde Park communities. In addition to the thoughtful

redevelopment of an underutilized and underdeveloped downtown area, Hale was recognized for the environmentally

sensitive and sustainable way in which he approached the project.

Currently, the Linen District consists of restaurants, retail stores, offices, service businesses, and the Modern Hotel

and Linen Building Event Center.  Hale indicated that residential property will soon be added as part of his "phase

two" plans for the neighborhood.  On the drawing board, he said are six residential condominium lofts above the

existing Lincoln Building at 15th and Grove.
