Sunday Market at the Linen Building
“I’m very excited to be able to offer this type of retail environment to not only the public, but more so to our vendors.” Building owner David Hale said. “There’s very little overhead or start up costs for the business owners. They get to come in, set up shop and sell their goods. At the end of the day, they pack up and leave.” Hale sites various other similar concepts found both in Boise (Capital City Market) and in Portland, Oregon where he grew up. “I can remember as a kid going downtown on the weekends and experiencing Portland’s Saturday Market, where there were all these unique shopping opportunities under the Burnside Bridge.” When Hale opened the Linen Building Event Center in Downtown Boise’s Linen District in late 2007, the marketplace concept had been included in the original business plan, but didn’t happen at that time. “I decided it was best to focus on the main components of the business right out of the gates and then slowly, as time allowed and the business evolved, launch into other aspects of the business plan. There’s definitely more to come than the public is aware of all of which I’m very excited about.” Hale said. The Sunday Market at the Linen Building will launch on April 19th, 2009 and run each 3rd Sunday for the rest of the year from 10 am to 3pm. A portion of the total vendor proceeds will be donated to a local nonprofit of choice. “I want to offer something I hope the community will respond to, while at the same time, give back to those in need.”
