Broken Barker Bash

On Oct. 2, 2008, a near-fatal motorcycle accident caused by an impaired driver fleeing from police at high speeds sent local graphic designer Jeff Barker

on a long road to recovery. It also left him with a mountain of medical bills. Well-known in the design world, Barker is being aided by his co-workers at

Wirestone, a marketing solutions company, and when local ad agencies heard of the effort, they kicked it into high gear to help get the word out. Donations,

including signed sports and music memorabilia, wine and food items, and hotel stays, have flooded in for a silent auction, and donations are still being accepted.

Anybody who likes good music, people who know Barker, people who support the effort and fans of the bands who play weekly in Boise are all on board to

meet the goal of raising $10,000. Musicians on the bill include Bill Coffey, Ned Evett, Travis Ward and Hillfolk Noir. Organizers are all abuzz about the Soft

Gong reunion (Bill Coffey, Ned Evett, John Warfel and Tim Willis), and DJs from Vinyl Preservation Society will do what they do best to keep the party spinning.

7 p.m., $10, The Linen Building, 1402 W. Grove St., brokenbarker.blogspot.com.
