Modern Hotel and BarThe trendy, recently redeveloped Modern Hotel and Bar in Downtown

Boise’s Linen District will be hosting the first annual “Modern Art” event,

which will take shape at the hotel starting at 5:30 that evening at 1314 W. Grove

Street.  The event will feature local artists and gallery owners who plan to take
over 22 rooms at the hotel with intentions to expose the public to visual, digital

and performance art related installations within their own, personally customized

 gallery space.

Each room will function as a creative avenue for artists or gallery owners to expose their specific art form to all those interested in participating

in the first annual Modern Art showcase. Local artists Amy Westover and Jennifer Wood will unveil “The Deal”, a Boise based artistic form

of today’s influential mediums found within the City of Trees.  World renowned Liu Ming Ching’s upcoming installation at the Stewart Gallery

will be on hand for a sneak peak at what will soon grace the gallery scene in Boise.  Idaho landscapes and introspective angles of outdoor architecture

will unravel within the confines of Jan Boles’ extensive armory.

While strolling about the grounds of the Modern, you’ll be treated to silhouettes of the Trey McIntyre Project dancers in the courtyard, young

hipsters staking their claim as our future performing artists and a variety of eclectic and introspective visual art forms coming together for a night

of exposure.

“The Modern Art event has been in the works since before we opened the doors of the hotel.”  said David Hale, co-owner of Boise’s independently

owned and operated boutique hotel.  “We kicked off the summer of 2007 with our weekly, live, “Modern Music” events in the courtyard of the hotel,

which will continue in 2008.   I’m very excited to bring our first annual Modern Art event to Boise.”  Hale mentioned enthusiastically.

“From the beginning, we’ve always planned to heavily cater to the various artistic forms of expression with Modern Music, Modern Art, Modern

Readings, Modern Dance, etc.  It’s very rewarding to have the ability to bring these creative concepts to fruition.”

The Modern Art event will start at 5:30 and run until 10:00 that evening.  Modern Music will be held in the courtyard of the hotel every Thursday

starting in May with Anna Sali opening the summer series, which runs through September.
